ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Penn State men's basketball team will host Wake Forest on Wednesday, Dec. 4 in the 21st annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge as announced on Thursday. The meeting in the Bryce Jordan Center will be the teams' first as Challenge opponents and the first since a 67-63 Penn State win in the Fiesta Bowl Classic in 1989.
The ESPN family of networks will televise all Big Ten/ACC Challenge games. The game time and specific broadcast information are to be determined.
In conjunction with a change in the home/away schedule for the 2019 Gavitt Tipoff Games, Penn State will play its Big Ten/ACC Challenge game at home for the second-straight season. The Nittany Lions will play at Georgetown on Thursday, Nov. 14 in the Gavitt Games series vs. the Big East.
"As the schedule worked out for us, we'll be coming back home to the BJC for Wake Forest after two games in New York in the preseason NIT," said Penn State men's basketball coach Pat Chambers. "It's definitely going to be exciting to have a brand-new opponent in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge."
Penn State has won four of its last five Challenge games and is 9-9 in the historical series. Chambers owns a 5-3 record against ACC programs in Challenge games.
The series between Wake Forest and Penn State includes only two games, the 1989 Fiesta Bowl Classic game in December 1989, and a neutral site game in Charlotte in December 1960, won by the Demon Deacons.
Freshman guard Myreon Jones led the Nittany Lions with a career-best 18 points as Penn State defeated No. 13 Virginia Tech in the Bryce Jordan Center in the 2018 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, one of three wins over ranked teams at home last season.
