Curtis Jones Jr. Joins Nittany Lion Basketball Roster

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Curtis Jones Jr., has enrolled at Penn State as a graduate transfer and joins the Nittany Lion basketball program. The 6-5, 185 combination guard began his career in the Big Ten before transferring to Oklahoma State in 2018. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

"Having a veteran guard like Curtis is really going to help us," said Penn State men's basketball coach Patrick Chambers. "He brings his experiences from playing in the Big Ten and the Big 12 and we've seen what he is capable of. Curtis has a scorer's mentality and he has the ability to score on all three levels."

Jones ended his 2018-19 season with impressive averages over his last six games with Oklahoma State with 9.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists. He had eight double-figure scoring games in 23 total appearances with the Cowboys, registering a career-best 23 points vs. Central Arkansas in nonconference action. In 18 Big 12 games, the Richmond, Virginia, product averaged 7.7 points per game and connected on 34.5 percent of his 3-point baskets.

Against Kansas, Jones scored 19 points off 7-9 shooting from the field, including a perfect 4-4 mark from behind the arc for a share of Oklahoma State high scoring honors. He also had five rebounds, one shy of his season high.

As a freshman at Indiana in 2016-17, Jones played in all 33 games and had one start. Following a coaching change, he played in seven games for the Hoosiers and then transferred after the fall 2017 semester to Oklahoma State.
