Levine Garners Penn State’s Second-Straight B1G Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Big Ten Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men's soccer redshirt junior goalkeeper Josh Levine was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Against Michigan in the Seventh Annual Mack Brady Game at Jeffrey Field, Levine played all 110 minutes in net, shutting out the Wolverines en route to a scoreless double-overtime draw.

The Rockville Centre, N.Y., native totaled a season-high seven saves, including five in the first 20 minutes of action as Michigan came out of the gates swinging.

Levine earned his first shutout of 2019 and the fifth of his career.

The honor marks the second Big Ten weekly award of Levine's career after earning Co-Defensive honors last season (10/9/18) and the second of the season for Penn State men's soccer after redshirt junior Brandon Hackenberg was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week last week (9/24/19).

The Nittany Lions face the Michigan State Spartans, owners of this week's Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Farai Mutatu, tonight at 6 p.m. in East Lansing, live on the Big Ten Network.
