Penn State Men's Basketball
Delaware Head Coach Martin Ingelsby
Postgame Press Conference
vs. Delaware – October 27, 2019
Opening Statement
First of all, I just want to thank, obviously, Penn State and Pat [Chambers] and their staff for inviting us up here to be a part of this game, obviously for a great cause. It was great for us to be a team on the road, to simulate a road trip and play against a really good team. You know, credit to them – I thought they played hard. They get into a good rhythm on the offense and I'm really impressed with who they were on the defense today. They made us work, they switched a lot of stuff and they got out and transitioned, got some opportunities. We're still learning a lot about our team, we've got a long way to go, but I think this is a great reference point for us moving forward.
Q: Coach, you guys were without Ryan Allen today, of course, because he's been injured for the last week or so. Just talk about that challenge coming into this game and the power-five team and not having your best player on the team.
A: Yeah, I mean, that's hard. Obviously, you want to have all of your fire power and horses out there. He sprained his ankle last week when we scrimmaged Loyola, so we're being cautious with this and holding him out. Hopefully he'll be ready for our first game next Tuesday. For us, we're searching a little bit on the offensive end. Nate Darling really carried us there for a while, but he got tired at the end. We need some other guys to step up, and we're playing some young guys. We were forced to play some freshman out there that maybe aren't as ready as Ryan Allen and some of our older guys. Not having him out there against a power-five team obviously is a tough blow, but it gave us an opportunity to see some younger guys get out there and face a really good team.
