Penn State to host 47th annual Garret Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State returns home to the White Building this weekend as they prepare to host the 47th annual Garret Open. This two-day event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 8:30 a.m. each day.
 
The Garret Open will showcase some of the best collegiate fencers in the country as well as various independent fencers from club programs.
 
Women's team members competing for Penn State are:
 
Epee – Catherine Cao (Centereach, N.Y.), Julia Duffy (Stony Brook, N.Y.), Nirali Igoe (Washington, D.C.), Halah Keramane (Alpharetta, Ga.), Alexandra Luongo (Melville, N.Y.), Medora McCarthy (Los Altos Hills, Calif.), Evelyn Pham (Houston, Texas), Barbara VanBenthuysen (Spring, Texas)
 
Foil - Jasmine Bajaj (Commack, N.Y.), Lodovica Bicego (Vincenza, Italy), Alissa Gozali (Singapore), Ximena Iriarte-Estrada (Huixquilucan, Mexico), Jiajing Li (Wuxi, Jiangsu, China), Sofia McGoff-Medero (Gurabo, Puerto Rico), Jade Rowland (Princeton Junction, N.J.), and Isabella Zuzulo (Newtown, Pa.).

Foil – Sebastiano Bicego (Vincenza, Italy), Andrew Grass (Burke, Va.), Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.), Maximillian Lewicki (Hillsborough, N.J.), Andrey Ostatnigrosh (Fresno, Calif.), Nicholas Prince (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Felipe Rosario (Maplewood, N.J.).
 
Saber – Inti Farfan-Bayerl (Morrison, Colo.), Maksymilian Mateja (Arlington Heights, Ill.), Ethan Mullennix (San Francisco, Calif.), and Michal Wisniowski (Clark, N.J.).
 
Additionally, Karen Chang (Hong Kong, China) and Pauline Conscience (Paris, France) will be in France to take part in a World Cup event. Axelle Wasiak (Vlaams-Barbant, Belgium) will also be fencing for a World Cup event in Germany.
 
After this weekend's action in State College, select Penn State fencers will participate in an Olympic Trials event in Salt Lake City, Utah which begins Friday, Dec. 6, and continues through Sunday, Dec. 8. 

Also, on Sunday Dec. 8th, the men's and women's teams will head to Fairfield, Conn. for a dual meet series against NYU, Brown University, Vassar, NJIT, and host, Sacred Heart.
