Nittany Lions in the NFL – Week 14

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - A total of 33 Penn State football alumni are populating the rosters of 20 National Football League teams. The Nittany Lions are perennially a top-20 program in producing players in the NFL. Each week throughout the year, GoPSUsports.com provides updates on the exploits of these former Nittany Lion greats.
 
The week opened with former Nittany Lion Allen Robinson leading the Bears to a Thursday night win over the Cowboys and concluded with a Penn State running back duel Monday night with Saquon Barkley and Miles Sanders starting for the Giants and Eagles, respectively.
 
In the middle, a pair of Penn State kicking alums stole the spotlight Sunday afternoon as Sam Ficken and Robbie Gould hit game-winning field goals within minutes of each other. Ficken converted on a 44-yard field goal as time expired to lead the Jets to a win over the Dolphins, while down in New Orleans, Gould converted on a 30-yard field goal as time expired to boost the 49ers to a win over the Saints.

Ficken made one of two extra point attempts and all three field goal attempts, including a 44-yard field goal as time expired to give the Jets a win over the Dolphins. According to NewYorkJets.com, it was the longest walk-off field goal in franchise history.

Gould converted on all six extra point attempts and two field goal attempts, including a 30-yard field goal as time expired to seal a 49ers victory in New Orleans.
