THE BATTLE OF CATS
Penn State and New Hampshire have not played each other since Jan. 2015 and have four total games against each other. New Hampshire holds a 3-1 edge in those four games. The two teams have played one series at Pegula Ice Arena back on Oct. 26-27, 2013.

New Hampshire swept the two-game set at Pegula and took the first game of the 2015 series in New Hampshire, but the Nittany Lions won the latest matchup 3-1 despite being outshot 33-19 for the game.

Sarah Nielsen scored the opening goal for Penn State before UNH tied the game in the second period. Penn State responded with a late second-period score by Emily Laurenzi and an early third-period marker form Hannah Bramm.

LAST TIME OUT: RIT
Penn State picked up an important two-game sweep over conference rival RIT to secure four points in the CHA standings almost one month ago at Pegula Ice Arena with wins of 3-0 and 6-2.

In the first game of the series, both Mikayla Lantto and Mallory Uihlein scored their first collegiate goals for the Nittany Lions in the first and second periods respectively. In the third period, Natalie Heising scored her 15th career power-play goal, setting a new program record. Chantal Burke picked up her fourth shutout of the season behind a strong 21-save performance.

In the second game, both teams traded goals in the first period with Mikayla Lantto getting on the board for PSU. After a scoreless second frame, Penn State erupted for five even-strength goals in the third stanza, with three coming in the first 4:39. Katie McMillan, Anna Promersberger, and Shea Nelson scored those three goals, followed by back-to-back scores from Heising later in the period.

BRINGING IN THE HARDWARE
The Nittany Lions swept all three College Hockey America weekly awards for the first time in program history after the two-game sweep of RIT. Natalie Heising won her third career player of the week honor after her three goals in two games, Mikayla Lantto picked up rookie of the week after her first career goal and an assist, and Chantal Burke was goaltender of the week with two wins, one shutout, and 33 saves.

Penn State's current roster now has 16 CHA rookie of the week honors between 11 student-athletes. Lantto becomes the second Nittany Lion to win the award this season after Mallory Uihlein won it twice Oct. 21 and Dec. 2.

With her third CHA Player of the Week award, Natalie Heising tied Amy Petersen ('17) and Laura Bowman ('17) for the most player of the week awards in program history.

NEXT UP
The Nittany Lions will host Lindenwood to begin its 14-consecutive conference game stretch to end the regular season next weekend, Jan. 10-11, at Pegula Ice Arena.

Saturday's contest will be Penn State's annual Skate for the Cure game that will include the first of three additional postgame skates this season. Fans who wear pink to the game will receive free admission. For more information, see the promotional schedule.
