Meet Beau Bartlett - Penn State Freshman Wrestler!

With the new year upon us, let's take a second to check in with incoming freshman wrestler Beau Bartlett.  The Tempe, Ariz., native is ready to begin his first season with head coach Cael Sanderson and the Nittany Lions and checked in with GoPSUsports for a quick Q&A!

Q: Welcome to Happy Valley! What were the main reasons you chose Penn State and this program?
Deciding to come to Happy Valley was a no brainer for my me. I have seen countless young men achieve the same goals and aspirations that I am eagerly pursuing. This opened my eyes to idea that 'something' was going on here, and whatever it was I would love to be apart of it.

Q: With the disruption that occurred nationally from the NCAA's reaction to a virus, how have you been able to interact with your new Nittany Lion teammates prior to coming to Penn State this Summer/Fall?
While it is in fact more challenging to foster friendships remotely than it is in person, I am enjoying growing closer with the team in any way that I can.

Q: What are you most excited about doing when you get on campus as an official member of the Penn State family?
Typically, my answer would be meeting new people and creating fun experiences with them but given how social distancing takes precedence at the moment, I would have to say getting Penn State gear!

Q: What do you plan on majoring in and why?
I am undecided at the moment. I will have to see which classes I enjoy most and set me up for my post-athletic career the best.

Q: How do you plan on approaching the transition to competing athletically at this level?
In my mind, I have been ready for a long time. However, I have a long way to go before I am the best in the world. My plan of action is humbly following my path under the guidance of good people.

Q: If there is one thing you absolutely must bring with you from home to Penn State, what is it?
Some of my shoes. Now 'Some' could mean ten, fifteen, or even twenty. I have a lot of shoes.

Q: What is the one thing you are going to miss most about not being home?
My parents are literal chefs. No further explanation necessary.
