With the new year upon us, let's take a second to check in with incoming wrestler Imran Heard! Heard is from Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated from St. Paul's School in Brooklandville, Md., and is heading into his first season with head coach Cael Sanderson and the Nittany Lion wrestlers.
Q: Welcome to Happy Valley! What were the main reasons you chose Penn State and this program?
Heard: I wanted to Win!
Q: With the disruption that occurred nationally from the NCAA's reaction to a virus, how have you been able to interact with your new Nittany Lion teammates prior to coming to Penn State this Summer/Fall?
Heard: I grew up with a lot of these guys so I just came and blended in pretty fast.
Q: What are you most excited about doing when you get on campus as an official member of the Penn State family?
Heard: I'm excited to get in the wrestling room and learn from the best in the nation.
Q: What do you plan on majoring in and why?
Heard: I plan on majoring in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management because I love planning events and exciting experiences for people.
Q: How do you plan on approaching the transition to competing athletically at this level?
Heard: I'm just going to listen to those who have had success and grow every day!
Q: If there is one thing you absolutely must bring with you from home to Penn State, what is it?
Heard: Nothing materialistic, just the morals and values installed in me by my family.
Q: What is the one thing you are going to miss most about not being home?
Heard: I'm definitely going to miss my family and looking after them, but this college experience I'm going to have is going to help them in the future as well.
