Dotson Added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State junior wide receiver Jahan Dotson has been added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, it was announced by The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc. The Biletnikoff Award is presented annually to the season's outstanding college football receiver regardless of position.
 
Dotson joins tight end Pat Freiermuth on the watch list. Former Penn State wide receiver Bobby Engram was a winner of the award in 1994 and a finalist in 1995.
 
The 2020 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented the Biletnikoff Award trophy by TQC Foundation Chairman George Avant, Jr., keynoter and college hall of famer Chad Hennings, and college and pro football hall of famer Fred Biletnikoff on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
 
Jahan Dotson Bio

  • The junior leads the Big Ten and ranks 25th nationally with five receiving touchdowns.
  • Dotson's 388 receiving yards rank third in the Big Ten, and his 97.0 receiving yards per game rank fifth, as well as 28th in the FBS.
  • WR Jahan Dotson's five touchdowns in the first three games of the season tied the Penn State record set by Joe Jurevicius in 1997.
  • Among teams during their first four games, Dotson's 388 yards rank 19th nationally and his five touchdowns rank tied for sixth.
  • Dotson's 5.8 receptions per game rank seventh in the Big Ten.
  • Dotson is one of two Power Five receivers to total at least 20 receptions, 375 yards receiving and five  receiving touchdowns in their first four games this season, joining LSU's Terrace Marshall Jr. (27 rec, 512 yds, 9 TD), and one of six in FBS.
  • Since 2000, the only other Penn State receiver to total at least 20 receptions, 375 yards receiving and five receiving touchdowns in the first four games of a season was Allen Robinson in 2012 (29 rec, 404 yds, 5 TD).
  • Dotson was one of 22 players in the FBS and one of 14 in the Power Five to total at least 20 receptions, 350 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns in the first three games since 2000, and the first in the Big Ten to complete the feat.
  • Dotson was the first Penn State football player to have a touchdown catch in each of the first three games of a season since Allen Robinson accomplished the feat in 2013 (vs. Syracuse, Eastern Michigan, UCF).
  • Dotson's 388 yards receiving in the first four games of the season are the most by a Nittany Lion since Geno Lewis totaled 462 in the first four games of 2014.
  • Dotson is averaging 16.9 yards per reception (minimum 20 catches) through his first four games of 2020, which ranks 12th nationally and fifth in the Power Five for a player's first four games of the 2020 season.
  • Dotson caught three touchdown receptions against Ohio State to become the first Penn State player with three touchdown receptions in a game since Pat Freiermuth (vs. Michigan State, 2019) and the first Nittany Lion receiver since DaeSean Hamilton (vs. Indiana, 2017).
  • Dotson recorded a career-high 144 receiving yards on a career-best eight catches against Ohio State, marking the most receiving yards for a Penn State Player since Chris Godwin recorded 187 yards vs. USC in the 2016 Rose Bowl.
