Niki Nolte Competes In Her First College Race

EVANSTON, Ill. — Penn State Swimming & Diving concluded its first day of competition against Northwestern and Iowa on Friday evening at Norris Aquatic Center. The divers competed and there were two swimming races.

Niki Nolte competed in her first college race after being cured from Lymphoblastic Leukemia less than two years ago. She swam the second breaststroke leg in the 200 medley relay with a time of 32.70. 

Top Swims
Senior Camryn Barry also swam the 1000 free for Penn State with a time of 10:08.15.

For the men, the 200 medley relay team of Jacob Oberle, Mikey Challis, Devon Chenot, and Tommy Hurley swam for 1:30.47 for a fifth-place finish.

Freshman Zach Brewer earned fourth in the 1000 free with a personal best time of 9:22.26.

Top Dives
On the boards, senior Kamryn Umbel led the women with two top ten finishes, earning fifth in the 1-meter (246.90) and sixth in the 3-meter (261.55). Junior Sierra Shurts followed closesly behind in the 1-meter, scoring 246.80 for sixth in the event.

The men were highlighted by junior Jonah Cey who secured third in the 1-meter, scoring 278.75, and fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 292.15. 

Next Up
The team will face Iowa and Northwestern tomorrow at 10 a.m. to conclude their meet against the two teams.
