Five Nittany Lions Earn All-America Honorable Mention at NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Penn State Men's Swimming concluded their NCAA Championship run Saturday afternoon at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. In total, the team scored 13 points and currently sit in 28th place. The final rankings will be tallied after this evening's final events. 

Throughout the Championships, the team broke a school record in the 200 free relay and had five competitors earn All-America Honorable Mention honors. 

Top Swims

Junior Michael Daly led the Nittany Lions in the individual events earning five points for the team. The Big Ten Champion achieved 12th in the 400 IM with a final time of 3:42.49. In addition, he swam for 1:41.51 in the 200 back to secure 19th overall. He locked in All-America Honorable-Mention honors for his performance in the individual medley event. 

Freshman Jake Houck concluded his debut NCAA's with a personal best time and the No. 3 spot on the Penn State all-time list in the 100 fly. His time of 47.23 secured him 39th overall in the event. He also competed in the 50 free, placing 31st for his time of 19.56. 

Senior William Roberson took on both the 50 and 100 freestyle. He notched 24th in the 50 free with a time of 19.48, and swam for 31st in the 100 free (43.05). 

Senior Gabe Castano competed in the 50 free, securing 26th in the event, swimming for 19.50. 

Top Dives

Sophomore Kevin Sullivan represented the Nittany Lions in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. He earned 39th in the 1-meter with a final score of 251.80. Additionally, he dove for 45th overall in the 3-meter, scoring 241.95 in the event. 
 

Nittany Lion Relays

The 200 free relay composed of Castano, Roberson, Houck, and Zane Sutton notched a 13th place finish with a new Penn State best in the event. Their swim of 1:16.88 scored the team eight points and achieved All-America Honorable Mention honors. 

The 200 medley relay team of Castano, Roberson, Houck, and Daniel Raisanen swam for 23rd with a final time of 1:25.22. The same competitors previously broke the school record in the event at Big Tens (1:24.86).
