THE MATCHUP
Penn State and George Mason square off at Eagle Bank Arena this weekend in the 128th and 129th matches of the rivalry. Penn State leads the all-time series 110-17, including winning four straight over the Patriots since the 2019 EIVA Semifinals.
The Nittany Lions won both matches against George Mason earlier this season at Rec Hall, winning Feb. 26 3-1 followed by a 3-0 win on Feb. 27.
CLINCHING POSSIBLE
Penn State can clinch the EIVA regular season title and secure its spot as the No. 1 seed and host of the EIVA semifinals and championship with two victories over Mason this weekend.
NITTANY LIONS ON A ROLL
Since winning the last set on Feb. 26, Penn State has won its last 19 sets in a row and they are tied for the national lead with No. 1 Hawai'i and Daemen for the longest active win streak in Division I-II men's volleyball at 10 matches.
Penn State was ranked No. 8 in this week's AVCA poll and moved up to No. 7 in the Off the Block media poll, its highest ranking of the season.
The Nittany Lions have the most wins in the country with 16 and its 16-2 start is its best start since starting the 2008 national championship season 18-0.
WILD THANG
Brett Wildman picked up his first EIVA Defensive Player of the Week award this season after his performance last weekend against Sacred Heart. Wildman went 32-32 on serve receive for the weekend and had a single-match best six blocks last Saturday. He also had 24 kills while hitting .441 along with 10 digs in both 3-0 sweeps.
