PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Penn State track & field team kicked off competition at the Husker B1G Invitational in Texas on Friday.
The team saw action in 11 events on the day, with most of the meet's events set for Saturday.
Three Nittany Lions advanced through the preliminary rounds of their events on Friday, as Sincere Rhea qualified in the men's 110h and Yasmin Brooks and Victoria Mathiew advanced in the women's 100h. Brooks' 13.73 was the top time in the preliminary round. Antoinette Bradley recorded a personal best in the women's 400-meter hurdles, placing third with a 59.68.
Senior David Lucas highlighted field competition for Penn State, posting a season best 57.59m (188-11) in the hammer throw, while also placing second in the discus throw with a 55.05m (180-07) mark.
Noah Swaby set a Penn State record in the decathlon shot put, topping the leaderboard with a throw of 15.60m. The throw was over a full meter more than the second place finisher. Swaby's 3857 score is the highest day one decathlon score of his career.
Saturday's competition will begin at 11 a.m. ET with the second day of the decathlon and heptathlon.
