Frankie Tagliaferri Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for Second Time

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's soccer senior captain Frankie Tagliaferri has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Tagliaferri finished with a career-best eight points in the Nittany Lions 6-0 win over Maryland last Saturday.

Tagliaferri tallied four assists in the win and added two goals in the Nittany Lions fifth-straight win. With her four assists, Tagliaferri tied the Big Ten and school record for assists in a game. Tagliaferri also tied the record in 2019 against Michigan State. She is the only player in Big Ten history to have four assists in a single game twice.

The eight points in a game is tied for sixth on the Big Ten single-game list and is the most since MSU's Gia Wahlberg had eight (on four goals) vs. Marshall on August 25, 2019. Tagliaferri leads the Big Ten with nine assists, is second in points with 21 and tied for second in goals with six.

It's the third consecutive week that Penn State has earned the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award. Ally Schlegel was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on March 22, 2021.

Tagliaferri was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week for the third time this season for her eight-point effort.

The Nittany Lions are back in action on Sunday, April 11 on the Big Ten Network and will face the winner of the Indiana/Michigan game on April 8.
