CARMEL, Ind. – The Penn State men's golf team moved into a tie for seventh with a two-round total of 612 (36-over) in the 2021 Big Ten Championships at Crooked Stick Golf Club. The Nittany Lions' 307 (19-over) second-round total put them in the middle of the pack as none of the 14 teams recorded under-par scores on Friday or Saturday.
Graduate student Alec Bard (New Hartford, New York) made three birdies on his last 10 holes Saturday for a 3-over 74 and moved into a tie for ninth with a 6-over 150 total. Senior Lou Olsakovsky (Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania) made birdies on the No. 2 and No. 11 holes for the second-straight day and finished in a tie for 12th with a 151 total (7-over).
Graduate student Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, New Jersey) trimmed a stroke off his total on the first nine from day one to day two and shot 1-under on his final five holes for a 77 (5-over). Davis is tied for 21st with a 153 (9-over).
Senior James McHugh (Rye, New York) took four strokes off his front-nine score and three strokes off his total from his first round for a 159 (17-over) to tie for 52nd. Sophomore Patrick Sheehan (Doylestown, Pennsylvania) posted an 83 (+11) in his second round for a 163 total (19-over) and is 64th.
No. 11 Illinois took sole possession of first place on the team leaderboard, tying the day's low round with a 294 for 594 (18-over) two-round total. Mac McClear of Iowa and Adrien Dumont de Chassart of Illinois are tied for first place on the player leaderboard with even-par scores of 144. McClear had the second-lowest score of the second day with a 2-under 70 while Dumont de Chassart had a 1-under 71.
Sunday's final round will tee off at 8 a.m.
