UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State softball team, under first-year head coach Clarisa Crowell, begins a marathon this weekend of 10 games in 10 days to close out the 2021 season. The Nittany Lions start by traveling to Bloomington, Indiana for a four-game series with the Hoosiers, May 7-9. The series was shifted slightly due to weather, so a doubleheader will be played Friday with single games on Saturday and Sunday. All the games will be streamed live on Big Ten Network+.

SERIES HISTORY
- Playing a Big Ten-only schedule in 2021, Penn State will face familiar opponents all season long.
- The Nittany Lions are set to play a four-game series against the Indiana Hoosiers, starting with a doubleheader Friday at 3 p.m. Single games will then be played Saturday and Sunday, scheduled for 1 p.m. and noon starts, respectively.
- Penn State leads Indiana in the all-time series, 39-36.
- The last time these two teams met up was during the 2019 season in a traditional three-game series as well as in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Hoosiers took the series, 2-1, at Beard Field, and then won the conference tournament game to advance.
SCOUTING INDIANA
- Indiana, led by fourth-year head coach Shonda Stanton, has a 19-17 record with two weeks left in the regular season. The Hoosiers are coming off a 3-1 series win over Michigan State and are set to host Penn State in their final home series of 2021.
- Senior Gabbi Jenkins is pacing Indiana offensively, batting .316 with 36 hits and 18 RBI. Jenkins also has 22 stolen bases on the season and recently broke the Indiana career stolen bases program record. Classmate Grayson Radcliffe has a team-high 22 RBI thanks in part to a team-high five home runs.
- In the circle, the Indiana pitching staff holds a 3.11 team ERA. Senior Emily Goodin has pitched the most for the Hoosiers with 159.1 innings in the circle with a 2.20 ERA and 140 strikeouts. She has five complete game shutouts and two combined.
LAST TIME OUT
- Penn State hosted 19th-ranked Michigan for a four-game home series at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field. The Wolverines swept the series, 4-0.
- Freshman Mel Coombs and junior Ally Kurland both hit home runs in the series to share the team lead with three on the season.
- In the final game of the series, the Nittany Lions attempted a ferocious comeback in the final three innings to put three runs on the board after trailing 5-0.
LIVINGSTON ON BASE
- Junior Melina Livingston has a team-high and season-long nine-game on-base streak going.
- While missing a few games this season due to injury, Livingston is leading the team with a .303 batting average with 10 hits and five RBI.
- The Detroit, Mich., native had hits in seven of the nine games where she reached base, the other two coming from hit by pitches.
