The Penn State Nittany Lions Men's Rugby team experienced their first loss of the season this Saturday in a 43-29 defeat to Army West Point.
Army came out strong, scoring two early tries to start the game on the front foot.
Penn State answered back with a try off a run by Noah Smith, quickly followed by another try off a well-executed play off a scrum, by Stephen Hoey, giving the Nittany Lions their first lead on the game.
The spirited comeback by Penn State was halted by two yellow cards, which Army capitalized on with two more tries to finish off the half.
Penn State started off the second half strong with a try by Giancarlo Nastasi kicking off the scoring.
After a break in scoring, Army answered with another try to further their lead.
However, Penn State kept fighting with Dalton Musselman scoring off of a solo run.
Army took control and scored two tries to solidify their lead and, in the end, the game.
With the loss Penn State loses their perfect record, putting them at 1-1 in the Rugby East and 3-1 on the season. Despite the loss Penn State have maintained their number 1 standing in the NCR Coaches Poll.
