Penn State Defeats Navy In First Meet of Season

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Men's Swimming and Diving team defeated Navy, 181-119, in their first meet of the 2021-2022 season. The Nittany Lions captured 10 individual event wins and both relay events.

Top Swims:
Some of the standout swimmers for the men's team today were Will Roberson, Michael Daly, Daniel Raisanen, and Victor Baganha. To start off the meet, the Nittany Lions 200 Medley Relay team came in first place with the help of Roberson, Raisanen, Bagnanha, and Houck. They finished with a total time of 1:27.64. 
 
The Nittany Lions swept the Midshipmen in the 100 Freestyle with Victor Baganha in first with a time of 44.50. Coming in second place was Tommy Hurley with a time of 45.67. Zane Sutton came in third place with a time of 46.34. 
 
Winners:
Michael Daly won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:37.82. 
 
In the 100 Breaststroke, Daniel Raisanen won with a time of 54.89. 
 
In the 200 Butterfly, Samuel Folger lead the way with a time of 1:50.27. 
 
In the 50 Freestyle race, Victor Baganha took first with a time of 19.99 while Jake Houck claimed second with a time of 20.18. 
 
In the 100 Freestyle heat, Baganha took first again with a time of 44.50. Tommy Hurley followed in second place with a time of 45.67 and Zane Sutton coming in third with a time of 46.34. 
 
In the 200 Backstroke ,Daly took first place with a time of 1:45.94 and Jack Harvey came in third with a time of 1:52.46.
 
Raisanen took first in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:01.19. 
 
Daly won the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.80 followed by William Lulek with 1:53.01. 
 
The 400 Freestyle Relay A of Baganha, Roberson, Houck, and Daly claimed first place with a time of 2:58.87.

Diving: 
The Nittany Lions beat the Midshipmen in the diving game. Jonah Cey qualified for NCAA zone championships with a score of 301.88 in the men's 1 meter and 333.83 in the 3-meter dive. 
 
What is next:
The Nittany Lions will travel to West Virginia next week for their second meet of the season on Saturday, October 16th at 11am.
