Raleigh, N.C.. – Penn State concluded the second day of competition at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center with 28 individual event swims in finals. At the end of day two, the women are placed sixth overall with 605 points.
Top Swims
Five PSU swimmers scored in the 400 IM. Sophomore Lizzie Danforth led the Nittany Lions in 19th (4:20.65). Sophomore Abby Henderson followed her to 20th (4:21.19) as sophomore Morgan Rinn, junior Devon Forker and senior Marget Shelly placed 21st (4:24.46), 22nd (4:25.09) and 23rd (4:27.50).
Junior Emma Harvey swam for eighth in the 100 fly (54.80), freshman Maura Fleuhr finished ninth (54.17) and senior Madison Ledwith placed 13th (55.12).
Sophomore Cat Stanford led Penn State in the 200 free breaking the two minute barrier and placing 20th(1:49.58). Junior Abigail Amdor also impressed as she swam for 21st in 1:49.73.
In the 100 breast three Nittany Lions scored. Senior Liv Jack placed 12th (1:02.66), graduate student Maddie Cooke finished 14th (1:03.17) and sophomore Kylie Rydland came in 16th (1:03.49).
Senior Marie Schobel and freshman Molly Carson impressed in the 100 back. Schobel swam a 52.92 to win the "B Final" and finish 9th overall. Carson swam for 14th overall in 54.05.
Top Dives
Junior Wei Wei and Senior Sierra Shurts led PSU on the boards. Wei placed 11th overall with 263.85 points and Shurts earned 15th (231.50).
Nittany Lions Relays
Schobel, Cooke, Harvey and Stanford opened finals with a seventh place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:38.72). At the end of the meet, the team of sophomore Anna Redican, Amdor, freshman Marly Lough and senior Sadie Schumann came home for tenth (7:24.17).
