CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Nittany Lions women's soccer team finishes up its three-game road trip to open the 2021 spring season. Penn State is coming over a 4-1 win over Northwestern on Thursday, February 24.

Nittany Lions Last Time Out
The Nittany Lions' three second-half goals propelled them to their first win of the 2021 spring season. Penn State (1-1-0, 1-1-0) topped Northwestern (1-1-0, 1-1-0) 4-1 on Thursday night. Goals were scored by seniors Kristin Schnurr and Sam Coffey and Ally Schlegel netted two goals and added an assist in the victory.

Head Coach Erica Dambach collected her 260th win as a head coach and 220th as the head coach of the Nittany Lions. Dambach is 111-23-9 against Big Ten opponents in her Penn State career.

Ally Schlegel become the first Nittany Lions to have five points in a match since Frankie Tagliaferri (5) and Laura Freigang (6) on 11/10/17 against Stony Brook in the NCAA Tournament.

Schlegel's two goal performance on Thursday was the first multi-goal game of her career.

Top of the Mountain

Senior captain Sam Coffey ranks as the NCAA Division I active leader in points and assists. Coffey currently has 93 points and 35 assists in her career. She ranks in the top five in four categories. She is fifth in points per game (1.39 PPG) and second in assists per game (.52 APG).

Schel-GOAL

Redshirt sophomore Ally Schlegel has picked up right where she left off during the fall of 2019. Schlegel tied for the Big Ten lead with 13 goals last season and led the conference with 33 points.

Schlegel currently leads the team in points with six and is tied for the team lead with two goals and two assists.

Schlegel is the third member of her immediate family to play Division I sports. Her father Mike and her brother Drew both played football at Kentucky. Drew played as a graduate transfer at Cal during the season last fall.

Just Win

Head coach Erica Dambach is among the elite in women's soccer coaching history. She currently ranks 17th all-time in winning percentage (.705) and 49th all-time in wins (260). Dambach has captured 10 Big Ten regular season titles, 4 Big Ten tournament titles and the 2015 national title and an Olympic gold medal.
