Doherty Adds Geiger as New Women’s Lacrosse Assistant Coach

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's lacrosse program and head coach Missy Doherty are excited to announce the addition of assistant coach Katrina Geiger. Geiger will join the Nittany Lions for the upcoming 2021-2022 year.
 
"We are so excited to add Katrina to our staff," Doherty said. "The experience, knowledge and positive energy she brings is going to have an immediate impact on our program."
"I'm beyond excited to join a program that is the caliber of Penn State," Geiger said. "To come to Penn State, into a program that has had so much success and work with a great coach like Missy, is a special opportunity. I'm pumped to get going!"
 
Geiger joins the program after spending the previous two seasons at Georgetown where she was the primary defensive coach for the Hoyas. She coached nine All-Big East honorees, three IWLCA All-South Region honorees and one All-American during her time in D.C.
 
Prior to Georgetown, Geiger spent one season at Elon as an assistant coach where she worked with the offensive unit and the goalkeepers.
 
Geiger has had an impressive playing career that most recently includes experience with Athletes Unlimited where she competes alongside and against some of the best lacrosse players in the world. She also played for the Philadelphia Fire of the PWHL from 2018-20.
 
In college at Loyola University Maryland, Geiger was an outstanding midfielder for the Greyhounds from 2013-18. In 73 career games, she scored 34 goals and added 29 assists for 63 total points. She was excelled in possession control, collecting 102 ground balls and 61 draw controls while also forcing 54 turnovers.
 
Geiger was a two-time All-Patriot League second-team selection in 2017 and 2018 and two-time team captain. She was part of Loyola's three Patriot League championships and made three NCAA Tournament appearances during her career. In her final collegiate season in 2018, she was honored with the Loyola Student-Athlete Leadership Award.
 
Geiger is a native of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Loyola in 2017 with a degree in communications and later completed her master's degree in emerging media in 2018.
