Men's Gymnastics Hosts Army in 2022 Season Opener Friday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State opens the 2022 men's gymnastics season with a home meet against Army West Point on Friday at Rec Hall. The meet is scheduled for 6 p.m., and is available to stream on B1G+.

The Lions were announced as the fifth-ranked team in the nation in the College Gymnastics Association Preseason Poll. The Black Knights debuted at No. 11.

PARKING INFO
• All Penn State Athletics non-football events will require a valid permit or payment of the applicable parking fee for campus lots. Complimentary parking will no longer be issued for season ticket holders. Fans with valid Penn State University Park parking permits will be permitted to park at non-football athletics events for free, following Transportation Services parking policies and access.
• Fans without a permit are encouraged to prepay for event parking at a discounted rate through ParkMobile - https://psu.parkmobile.io/. Prepayment is available through 11:59 p.m. the day prior to each event. Season packages will be available for general parking for most sports, and information on VIP parking options available for select events will be released later.

SERIES HISTORY
• Penn State and Army will meet for the 65th time in a series that began in 1932.
• The Lions lead the series 45-18-1.

B1G GYMNASTS TO WATCH
• Sophomores Matt Cormier and Michael Jaroh were named Gymnasts to Watch by the Big Ten earlier this week.
• Jaroh earned two Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors and Cormier added one last season. Jaroh also had one Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award.

SCOUTING ARMY
• Army went 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the ECAC last season.
• Senior Mathew Davis scored 78.599 in the all-around competition in the prelims of the NCAA Championships.

TEAM CAPTAIN NAMED
• Senior Andres Perez Gines will serve as team captain this season, taking over for Brennan Pantazis.

LONG TRADITION
• Penn State is tied with Oklahoma for the most NCAA team titles (12) and has more NCAA Championships appearances (66) than any team in the history of the sport.

B1G CHAMPIONSHIPS AT REC HALL
• It's never too early to get excited for postseason competition at Rec Hall. The Big Ten Championships will be held at Penn State on April 1-2.
