Barry Named Men's Lacrosse Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State's Nils Barry put together a strong performance in his collegiate debut while helping the Nittany Lions defeat Lafayette in the season opener on Saturday. On Tuesday, he was rewarded by being named the Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Co-Freshman of the Week.

Barry totaled five points on three goals and two assists in the win over the Leopards. He recorded a hat trick in the second quarter alone, scoring three of the team's five goals and adding one assist during that stretch.

Barry was one of just three freshmen in the Big Ten to tally five points during the opening weekend of the season, joining teammate Kyle Aldridge (2G, 3A) and Michigan's Ryan Cohen (2G, 3A).

Up next for Penn State is a game against Villanova on Saturday at Panzer Stadium. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
