Hoss Earns Big Ten Freshman of The Week Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse midfielder Brooke Hoss was tabbed co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday. Hoss helped Penn State to two road victories last week as the Nittany Lions defeated Duquesne 18-4 and Cornell 20-11.

Hoss shares the Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor with Charlotte Smith of Johns Hopkins.

Last week Hoss combined for six goals in wins at Duquesne and Cornell.

Against Duquesne, the freshman from West Sayville, New York could not miss, netting four goals on four shots to lead the Nittany Lions in scoring.

Hoss took charge, scoring the first goal of the game just over a minute in, which also marked her first collegiate goal in just her second game at PSU.

She would find the cage twice more in the second period and capped it off with a goal in the third quarter as a part of the Nittany Lions' 17-unanswered goals against the Dukes.

Hoss also won three draw controls in the contest.

The midfielder kept up the scoring at Cornell, netting two goals while tallying one ground ball and winning one draw control in PSU's 20-11 win over the Big Red.

The last Penn State Freshman of the Week went to Kristin O'Neill on April 13, 2021.

The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, are 2-1 on the young 2022 season.

Penn State finishes a four-game road trip on March 5 at Loyola (Md.) before welcoming James Madison on March 9 at Panzer Stadium.
