Penn State Set for Second Split-squad Weekend of Outdoor Season

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State track and field teams return to split-squad action this weekend with trips to Duke and Miami (Fla.).  

Half of the team will travel to Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational, while the other half will compete at the Miami Alumni Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla. Action in Durham will begin at 9:30 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Athletes at Miami will kick off competition at 11 a.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Duke Invitational will be updated all weekend by Flash Results, with a live stream shown on ACC Network Extra. The Miami Alumni Invitational will have all events tracked by Primetime Timing.

A LOOK BACK
The Nittany Lions had a successful return to the Florida Relays this past weekend, as the team had multiple athletes finish their events with top-10 times in program history.

Victoria Tachinski ran the third-fastest 800m time in Nittany Lion history with her time of 2:04.02 to earn Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week honors. Sophomore Victoria Vanriele ran the 10th-fastest time in program history with a time of 2:06.32, which currently ranks second in the Big Ten behind only her teammate.

On the men's side, Brandon Hontz had a career best performance in the men's 1500m. The senior placed second in his race with a new personal best time of 3:41.67, the sixth-fastest time in program history.

Freshman Korbin Martino kept his strong first season rolling, as the sprinter ran the eighth-fastest 400m time in Penn State history at a 46.68.
