Tachinski Named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track and field graduate student Victoria Tachinski was named the Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of the Week after anchoring two Championship of America winning relay teams this past weekend at the 126th Penn Relays, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native first anchored the women's Sprint Medley Relay team to its winning time of 3:48.47, guiding the Nittany Lions to their first championship wheel of the weekend. The relay time currently ranks as the fourth-fastest in program history. Tachinski followed that by also anchoring the women's 4x800 relay team that took home another championship wheel after clocking the fastest time in the NCAA this season and a school-record mark of 8:24.49.

Tachinski's weekly conference honor is her second of the outdoor season.

The Nittany Lions will stay in Happy Valley this weekend to close out the regular season, as they are set to host in the annual Jim Thorpe Invitational Friday.
