UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball had nine student-athletes earn a spot on the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Team for the 2021-22 year.
Lexie Black, Maggie Finnegan, Maddie Gordon, Liana Jones, Ally Kurland, Cassie Lindmark, Emily Maddock, Kathryn Rex and Claire Swedberg were the nine Nittany Lions honored for having at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average during the school year.
The team rankings and individual honors are submitted by member head coaches and recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories.
In addition to the NFCA academic awards, six of the Nittany Lions also earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors last month. Among them were Black, Finnegan, Kurland, Maddock, Rex and Swedberg.
Furthermore, the team tied a record with 16 Academic All-Big Ten honorees this past spring, which included the nine NFCA All-America Scholar Team honorees.
