Men's Gymnastics Begins B1G Competition Saturday Against Nebraska

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.- No. 4 Penn State men's gymnastics open its conference slate against no. 3 Nebraska on Saturday, Jan. 28 in Rec Hall. The meet will kick off at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on Big Ten Plus. 
 
Penn State is ranked fourth in the Road to Nationals rankings and CGA weekly poll this week. The Nittany Lions also rank third in the Big Ten.

LAST TIME OUT
Penn State placed second at the Navy Open last weekend against Navy, Ohio State, Springfield and William & Mary. The Nittany Lions team score was 395.450
 
Junior Michael Jaroh won the all-around with a score of 80.950 while Michael Artlip finished in third with a 77.00. Both qualified for the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup in February. 
 
Jaroh also took first on still rings (13.800), had a career best on floor (13.400)  and earned a second-place finish on parallel bars (13.800). Matt Cormier took home the winning score on vault with a personal best of 14.750. Josh Karnes earned a career best on parallel bars, securing another first place finish for the team with a score of 14.350. He also earned a second place finish on high bar (13.700). Matt Underhill earned his best score of his freshman campaign with a 14.500 on vault, tying him for second in the meet. Ian Raubal scored a 13.350 on high bar landing him in fourth place.
 
HISTORY WITH NEBRASKA 
Nebraska claimed the victory in the last meeting between the Nittany Lions and Cornhuskers in 2022. The score of the competition was 408.650- 400.850. Penn State competed well on still rings at Nebraska last season with Jaroh, Karnes and Nate Warren securing personal bests ,at the time, and finishing as the top three. Jaroh also took first on high bar with a score of 13.850, his season best.
 
The all-time record between the squads is 4-5, with Nebraska holding the advantage.
 
SCOUTING THE HUSKERS
Nebraska finished in third place at the Rocky Mountain Open last weekend with a team score of 405.300. The team competed at the West Point Open the previous week against Penn State. The Cornhuskers took second place behind the first-place Nittany Lions.
