UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Coming off a two-week hiatus, the Penn State men's and women's fencing teams are set to travel to Durham, NC this coming weekend for a big NCAA fencing showdown.
Duke will hold a two-day event this weekend, Feb. 11 and 12, with the men fencing on Saturday and the women on Sunday.
On Saturday, the men will begin at 8 a.m. against Johns Hopkins on strips five and six. They'll continue on the same strips, facing MIT, Brandeis, and Notre Dame every hour and a half with a lunch break between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. leading up to round 5 against Duke at 3 p.m., when they'll move to strips one and two.
It will work exactly the same for the women on Sunday, except they'll face Northwestern at 8 a.m. on strips five and six.
Jonathan Piskovatskov, Ryan Griffiths, Peter Kambeseles, Devin Tafoya, Mitchel Bekker and Nicholas Glaz will compete in men's epee with Jordan Liverant, Axelle Wasiak, Jaclyn Khrol and Nirali Igoe for the women.
Representing Penn State in men's foil will be Arwen Borowiak, Aidan Johnson, Donavyn Martinez, Konner Paik, and Caiden Cannon. The women's side will have Samantha Catantan, Arianna Proietti, Grace Seal, Clarisse Tan, Halah Keramane and Ariel Ratsep.
The sabre squad will bring Clement Perrier, Jeffrey Basalyga, Neil Lilov and Nicholaus Zielinski, as well as Steph Jen, Aurora Colter, Mia Novick, Teagan McNally, Amelia Baker and Ola Strzalkowski from the women's team.
