Pegula Ice Arena Announces 2023 Spring Ice Show

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The 38th Annual Spring Ice Show will take place at Pegula Ice Arena Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m. This year's show is titled "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" and will tell the original storyline of a child who goes to the beach on a family trip and then falls asleep and dreams that she is on an underwater ocean journey.

The show will feature over 65 skaters from the Pegula Ice Arena Learn to Skate program, the Penn State Figure Skating Team, and the local Nittany Valley Figure Skating Club.

This year's show will also include performances by professional pairs skaters Paul and Gillian Schatz. Gillian was born and raised in Houston, Texas where she started skating at the age of 5. Having spent most of her life as a competitive single skater, following graduation she was offered a role with Disney on Ice. Paul has been skating for 25 years. He invested most of his career as a competitive pair skater, including being a part of Team USA, before he joined Disney on Ice where he met his partner, and now wife, Gillian. Together they currently work as full-time skating instructors for singles and pairs at Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center.

"We are so excited to take you on this underwater adventure with us! This year's theme has something for everyone – surfers, mermaids, pirates, of course fish, and other underwater sea life! Our skaters and coaches work so hard every day, and this show is an incredible opportunity for them to showcase their talents and celebrate the joy of skating!" said first-year Figure Skating Director, Rachel Landers.

Tickets for the show are general admission and can be purchased for $15.00. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Pegula Ice Arena Gate C Guest Relations Desk or on the day of the show beginning an hour before show time.
