Postgame Notes: No. 6/7 Penn State vs. Northwestern

TEAM 

  • Penn State is now 16-5 all-time against Northwestern, including 8-3 in road matchups. 
  • The Nittany Lions have won nine of the last 11 matchups in the series. 
  • Since 2014, Penn State is 21-8 against the Big Ten West, including wins in six-straight meetings. 
  • Penn State has won 10-straight games after entering the day tied with Air Force for the fifth-longest active streak in the FBS (Georgia, 19; Fresno State, 13; Washington, 11; Florida State, 10; Air Force, 9). 
  • Penn State has 10-straight wins, each by a 14-point margin of victory. Over the last two seasons, no other FBS team has won by a 14-point margin in more than six-straight games. 

STREAKS 

Offense 

  • Penn State has recorded at least 30 points in 12-straight games, which is the longest active streak in the nation.  
  • It marks the fifth time in Big Ten history a team has strung together 12 or more games of 30+ points. The only other time Penn State went 12-straight games with 30+ points in program history was 1993-94, when it scored 30+ points in a school-record 15-straight games. 
  • Dating back to the Rutgers game in 2022, Penn State has scored in 32-straight quarters, the longest active streak in the nation. 

Defense 

  • Penn State has not allowed a first-drive touchdown in the last 19 games, dating back to the Michigan State game in 2021.  
  • The Nittany Lions registered 12 tackles for loss. Penn State has a streak of 14-straight games with at least five tackles for loss. It is the second-longest streak in FB behind James Madison's 15-game string. 

Special Teams 

  • Penn State has not allowed a special teams touchdown in 53-straight games, dating back to the start of the 2019 season. 

OFFENSE 
 

Team 

  • Penn State has not committed an offensive turnover this season. Penn State is the only team in the FBS who has not turned the ball over this year. 
  • The Nittany Lions threw for 291 yards. Since 2014, Penn State has recorded 200 passing yards on 78 occasions. Penn State is 58-20 in those games. 
  • The Nittany Lions scored seven points off turnovers against Northwestern. Penn State has tallied 58 points off turnovers this season. 

Drew Allar 

  • QB Drew Allar completed 18-of-33 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown, while adding a rushing score. 
  • Allar connected with Nicholas Singleton on a 2-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. 
  • The sophomore scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter. It was his third career rushing touchdown. 
  • Allar recorded his second career game with both a passing and rushing touchdown. 
  • The Ohio native has thrown 158 pass attempts this season without throwing an interception. Entering the day, Allar and Washington State's Cam Ward (141) are the only FBS quarterbacks with 140+ pass attempts and no interceptions this season. 
  • With his ninth touchdown pass of the season, Allar became the first PSU quarterback to throw for nine or more touchdown passes, before throwing an interception, in a season since Mike McQueary in 1997. 

Beau Pribula 

  • QB Beau Pribula connected on a 30-yard touchdown pass with Trey Potts in the fourth quarter. 
  • It was Pribula's second career touchdown pass. 

Nicholas Singleton 

  • RB Nicholas Singleton rushed for a team-high 80 yards on 21 carries, while scoring on a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown. 
  • Singleton's 21 carries tied his career high set against Northwestern in 2022. 
  • The sophomore scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter. It was his 18th career rushing touchdown. 
  • Singleton hauled in a 2-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. It was his second career touchdown grab and first this season. 
  • The Pennsylvania native earned his first career game with both a rushing and receiving touchdown. 
  • Singleton set a career high with six receptions. His previous high was three on two occasions, last against Illinois in 2023. 
  • Singleton now ranks 34th all-time at Penn State with 1,344 career rushing yards. 

Trey Potts 

  • RB Trey Potts found the endzone on a 13-yard run in the second quarter. It marked his 12th career rushing touchdown and his first in a Penn State uniform.  
  • Potts hauled in a 30-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. It was his first career receiving touchdown. 
  • Potts collected his first career game with both a rushing and receiving touchdown. 

KeAndre Lambert-Smith 

  • WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith had a team-high 86 receiving yards on four catches. 
  • Lambert-Smith hauled in a 25-yard reception in the second quarter and a 35-yard reception in the third quarter. 
  • Lambert-Smith now has 1,420 career receiving yards, ranking 22nd all-time at Penn State. 

Dante Cephas 

  • WR Dante Cephas has a reception in 32-straight games. 

DEFENSE 

Team 

  • The Nittany Lions limited Northwestern to -10 rushing yards on 16 carries in the first half. 
  • In the third quarter, Penn State stopped Northwestern on fourth down conversions on back-to-back drives. 
  • Penn State has 12 takeaways this season (six interceptions, six fumble recoveries), after Daequan Hardy's fourth quarter interception. 
  • Since the start of 2022, Penn State has forced 38 turnovers (20 interceptions, 18 fumbles). 
  • Penn State limited Northwestern to 175 total yards. Since 2014, Penn State has held an opponent under 300 total yards 54 times. 
  • The Nittany Lions gave up just 45 rushing yards. Since 2014, PSU has held opponents under 100 rushing yards 52 times and under 50 rushing yards 19 times. 
  • Penn State held Northwestern to 130 passing yards, marking the 68th time since 2014 holding an opponent under 200 passing yards. 
  • With 12 tackles for loss, Penn State has tallied 10 or more tackles for loss on 30 occasions since 2014. 
  • Penn State recorded seven sacks. Since 2014, Penn State has collected six or more sacks in a game 16 times. 

Zane Durant 

  • DT Zane Durant secured a career-high three tackles for loss. His previous high was 1.5 against Delaware. 
  • Durant tied a career high with four tackles. He also had four against Delaware. 
  • The sophomore recorded a solo tackle for loss in the first quarter and added a tackle for loss in the second quarter. 
  • Durant registered a solo sack in the fourth quarter. 
  • The Florida native is Penn State's first defensive tackle to record three or more tackles for loss against a Big Ten opponent since Curtis Cothran against Wisconsin in 2016. 
  • Durant is PSU's first defensive tackle to register three or more tackles for loss in a game since Tyrell Chavis against Akron in 2017. 

Kobe King 

  • LB Kobe King tallied two tackles for loss, including a sack. 
  • The Detroit native recorded a sack in the first quarter, the first of his career.  
  • King added a solo tackle for loss in the first quarter. 

Daequan Hardy 

  • CB Daequan Hardy picked off a pass in the fourth quarter and returned it 34 yards. 
  • Hardy collected his fifth career interception and second this season. 
  • The 34-yard interception return is the longest of Hardy's career. His previous long was 18 yards at Indiana in 2022. 
  • Hardy notched a solo tackle for loss in the first quarter.  

Adisa Isaac 

  • DE Adisa Isaac notched a solo sack in the second quarter. He has 9.5 career sacks and 19.5 career tackles for loss. 

Coziah Izzard 

  • DT Coziah Izzard assisted on a sack with Amin Vanover in the first quarter, giving him 6.5 for his career.  

Amin Vanover 

  • DE Amin Vanover assisted on a sack with Coziah Izzard in the first quarter, giving him 2.5 for his career. 

Dani Dennis-Sutton 

  • DE Dani Dennis-Sutton notched a solo sack in the second quarter. He owns 5.5 career sacks. 
  • He also had a half-tackle for loss early in the second quarter. 

Kevin Winston Jr. 

  • S Kevin Winston Jr. recorded a career-high five tackles. His previous high was three, in four games, last coming against West Virginia in 2023. 

Keon Wylie 

  • LB Keon Wylie tallied a solo sack in the fourth quarter. It was the first full sack of his career. He now owns 1.5 career sacks. 

Zuriah Fisher 

  • DE Zuriah Fisher registered a solo sack in the fourth quarter. He now owns 2.5 career sacks. 

SPECIAL TEAMS 
 

Alex Felkins 

  • K Alex Felkins converted a 20-yard field goal in the first quarter and knocked in a 47-yard field goal in the third quarter. 
  • The 47-yard field goal is Felkins' longest make at Penn State and his 14th career make from 40+ yards. 
  • Felkins hit all five extra-point attempts on the day. 

Riley Thompson 

  • P Riley Thompson averaged 46.8 yards on four punts. 
  • Thompson landed a 39-yard punt at the Northwestern 19 in the first quarter. 
  • Thompson booted a 50-yard punt, fair caught at the Northwestern 16 in the fourth quarter. 
  • The Australia native owns 16 career 50+ yard punts and 31 career punts inside the 20.
