SERIES HISTORY AGAINST MERCYHURST
- This weekend will mark the 49th and 50th meetings between Penn State and Mercyhurst.
- Mercyhurst currently leads the series 25-15-9.
- The two teams last faced each other on Nov. 17-18 of 2023 where the two teams split the series. Mercyhurst won the first game 4-0 and the Nittany Lions won the second 3-1.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
- Mercyhurst currently holds a record of 14-13-1 and a 10-4-0 record in CHA play
- Leading the Lakers on offense is Sarah Boucher who has recorded 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points this season.
- In between the pipes is senior Ena Nystrøm who has a .924 save percentage with 733 saves this season.
- Mercyhurst recently swept CHA rival RIT on Jan. 26-27 by scores of 4-1 and 5-2.
BROOKS MAKING AN IMPACT
- Brianna Brooks enters this week on a three-game point streak.
- In the Nittany Lions last series against Lindenwood, she totaled five points off three goals and two assists in which two came in the regular season finale last Saturday.
- The Whitby, Ontario native currently sits second on the team in points with 24 off nine goals and 15 assists.
APPROACHING 100 GAMES
- Juniors Mya Vaslet and Karley Garcia played in their 98th and 99th career games this past week against Lindenwood.
- They sit just one game away for 100.
- There are currently eight Nittany Lions on the roster that have played in 100 games or more in their careers.
WEEKLY AND MONTHLY AWARDS TAKEOVER
- Sophomore forward Tessa Janecke and freshman forward Stella Retrum each claimed CHA monthly awards on Tuesday afternoon.
- Janecke picked up her third straight CHA Forward of the Month honor after totaling 16 points off five goals and 11 assists.
- She also recorded 106 faceoff wins out of 161 attempts in the month of January for a .658 faceoff win percentage.
- She tallied a hat-trick in the series against Lindenwood which was part of a six-point day following three goals and three assists which also earned her CHA Forward of the Week honors.
- Retrum secured her second CHA Rookie of the Month award this season following an impressive January consisting of five goals and two assists for seven points.
- In the span of the month, she recorded three multi-point games including a two-goal showing against RIT on Jan. 12.
- On the year, Retrum sits second on the team in goals with 11 and fourth on the team in points with 21.
