UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State track and field team is set to send athletes to Boston, Mass. and Clemson, S.C. this weekend for competition. In Boston, the Nittany Lions will compete at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational, with a select group also competing at the Eagle Elite Invitational, hosted by Boston College at New Balance's "the TRACK" facility. At Clemson, the Nittany Lions will participate in the Tiger Paw Invite.
The Nittany Lions enter competition this weekend with the men's squad ranked No. 18 in the nation. Penn State also has six event squads ranked inside the top ten in the country, including three each from the women's group and the men's group. The men's shot put and 800-meter squads are both ranked second in the country while the women's 800 (No. 5), women's mile (No. 6), women's 3K (No. 7), and men's 400m (No. 9) also received top-ten recognition.

Sprinter Cheickna Traore continued Penn State's run of success with his second conference award of the season. Traore collected the Big Ten's Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday following his standout performance at last weekend's Sykes & Sabock Invitational. The Linden, N.J. native posted a 6.64 to win the 60m and followed that up with a 45.16 split as the anchor to the men's 4x400 group that ran a 3:05.87.
Penn State seeks to improve on some already impressive marks across its three meets this weekend with just one more weekend left in its regular season.
