Penn State Adaptive Athletics Complete Successful 2024 Summer Camp

The Penn State Adaptive Athletics program recently completed its 2024 Summer Camp on June 22 at the Penn State Multi-Sports Facility. Program Director Brenna O'Connor welcomed many middle and high school aged athletes to campus for a day-long program featuring various adaptive athletic sports and guest speakers.

A brief rundown of the day's events include:

Morning session: wheelchair basketball drills and games.

Afternoon session: various track and field events (200m, 400m, 400m relay, shot put, and turbo javelin).

Guest speaker: Penn State's Tom Morris (encouraging and motivational talk as he shared information about his life story and the benefits of practicing gratitude).

Presentation at the end of the day: Sled hockey presented by DJ and Alexis Wilson from the State College Coyotes.

Youth who participated were between middle school and high school age. They were able to participate in activities they already play and also had opportunities to try events they had never done.
