Kuhns and Merk Take Bronze at USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate Challenge

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Penn State Men’s Volleyball continued its yearly success at the USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate Challenge as the Nittany Lions had a team earn a medal for the fourth-consecutive year. Will Kuhns and Ryan Merk finished third at the event, which was held at Stevenson University.

Kuhns and Merk defeated Mason Andrade and Jacob Labouliere from Wentworth in the bronze medal match. They went 3-1 at the event, including a win over their collegiate teammates – Carter Dittman and Owen Rose – in the quarterfinal round.

Penn State has earned a medal in all four years of the event’s existence. Will Bantle and Cal Fisher won the inaugural event in 2021. Merk teamed with Michael Valenzi to take gold in 2022. Merk and Valenzi then teamed up again in 2023 and earned bronze.

The 2024 tournament was won by Matthew Gentry and Quin Zilch, players from Lewis and Loyola Marymount.
