UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State swimming and diving head coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron announced the hiring of Bill Williams as Assistant Diving Coach. The newest Nittany Lion brings over ten years of coaching experience, including five NCAA teams and multiple swimming camps.
"I am excited to have the experience of someone like Bill join our staff as a whole and to assist in what our diver's needs day in and day out," said Bonewit-Cron. "He brings a high level of enthusiasm and I think he will compliment the direction that Buck will take with the Penn State diving program quite well!"
Williams comes to Happy Valley from Towson University where he spent two years as the diving coach, mentoring six NCAA Zone A qualifying athletes. Additionally, he oversaw 10 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) finalists and coached the CAA Rookie Diver of the Year.
Prior to his time with the Tigers, Williams coached for multiple collegiate diving programs, most recently at North Carolina State where he mentored seven ACC finalists and an ACC Champion. He also held diving coach positions at Old Dominion, St. Bonaventure and Northern Michigan, coaching over twenty conference finalists, six conference medalists and other award honorees.
Williams also brings experience with multiple swim camps, such as coaching the University of Texas Diving Camp for ten years. He also assisted in coaching the Ripfest and TriSynergy diving camps.
Williams graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2010, earning his bachelor's degree in sport administration.
