THON 5K to Impact Parking and Traffic for Penn State Athletics Events Sunday

Fans are advised to park in Stadium West lot for field hockey and men’s lacrosse

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – With Penn State’s annual THON 5K Fun Run/Walk to be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, October 20, several traffic and parking restrictions will be in place, which will impact a number of Penn State Athletics events.

Fans are advised to park in Stadium West for both the men’s lacrosse (11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.) and field hockey (noon) games as the road closures will have restricted time access for parking in other lots. Fans wanting to park in the Jordan East lot for men’s lacrosse must arrive prior to 11 a.m. Fans are also advised to arrive at Panzer Stadium before 11 a.m. or wait until after 12 p.m. for the easiest access to attend the games. Women’s volleyball (2 p.m.) fans should park in the Nittany Deck and will likely not be impacted by closures.

Traffic Restrictions

To accommodate the THON 5K route, Curtin Road from University Drive to Porter Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the following campus roadways will be closed from 11 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. Sunday (roads will reopen after final runner has cleared):

  • Porter Road (from Curtin Road to Hastings Road)
  • Hastings Road (from Porter Road to Bigler Road)
  • Bigler Road (from Hastings Road to Pollock Road)
  • Pollock Road (from Bigler Road to Burrowes Road)
  • Burrowes Road (from Pollock Road to Curtin Road)
