UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State Women’s Tennis team concluded a successful weekend at the Cornell Invitational. All four Penn State participants took home victories across the tournament.
In doubles play, Jordina Cegarra and Maiko Uchijima combined for two victories over LeMoyne’s Isabella Barona and Lilia Raiss (6-0) and Syracuse’s Nelly Knezkova and Serafima Shastova (6-1). Cegarra worked with Deanna Lasorda to defeat Niagara’s Isabel Garcia and Saloni Tamang (6-2).
Lasorda paired with Uchijima to beat Cornell’s Tanya Fan and Seychelle Balog (6-2). Uchijima and Zink took down Niagara’s Valeria Mora and Mercedes Velasco (6-1).
Cegarra highlighted singles play with an undefeated record. She defeated Cornell’s Balog (6-1, 6-1), Niagara’s Tamang (6-1, 6-3) and LeMoyne’s Ella Fernando (6-3, 6-2). Lasorda earned her first singles victory of the season against Niagara’s Valeria Mora (6-0, 7-5).
Uchijima beat Cornell’s Andrea Martinez De Los Rios (7-5, 6-3) and Niagara’s Velasco (6-0, 6-1). Zink took down LeMoyne’s Adelie Wilson (6-4, 6-3).
