Swimming and Diving's Tylor Kim Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week

The honor is Kim’s first Big Ten weekly award of his career

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State swimmer sophomore Tylor Kim was honored as this week’s Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after his performance this past weekend against Navy, the Big Ten announced today.

Kim had an outstanding weekend in Annapolis, tallying two individual and one relay team first-place finishes. Individually, he won the 50 Free with a time of 20.25 and the 100 Free, recording his personal-best time of 43.90.

He also competed in the 400 Free Relay, swimming the first leg and achieving a times of 20.69 and 21.45. The squad, made up of Matthew Bitner, Mariano Lazzerini and Cooper Morley, won with a combined time of 2:58.76.

Kim, a sophomore from Lake Oswego, Oregon, hopes to expand on a successful freshman year where he qualified for the NCAA Championships. The award is Kim’s first Big Ten honor of his collegiate career.

 

The Nittany Lions are back in action on October 25 – 26 at 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. respectively in McCoy Natatorium for their home opener against the Pittsburgh Panthers.
