Women's Lacrosse Announces 2024-25 Team Captains

Kate Dougherty, Ellie Hollin and Lauren Saltz were elected by their teammates to lead the team.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse head coach Missy Doherty has announced that Ellie Hollin, Lauren Saltz and Kate Dougherty have been named captains for the 2025 season.  
 
 “We are so fortunate to have Ellie, Lauren, and Kate lead our team in 2025,” said Doherty. “Each of these players bring a unique perspective and leadership style to the team, and our program will certainly benefit from having them as mentors and leaders.” 

In her junior campaign, Hollin was named IWLCA DI All-American third team, her second consecutive All-America honor. Starting in all 19 games, the defender accounted for 21 caused turnovers and scooped 21 ground balls. Hollin was most recently named All-Big Ten first team, USA Lacrosse All-America honorable mention and Big Ten All-Tournament team. In the spring semester of her junior year, she earned a 4.0 and was named to the IWLCA honor roll. She was awarded Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All- Big Ten her sophomore and junior years. 

In the 2024 season, Saltz recorded 20 goals. In addition, she picked up 45 draw controls and 21 ground balls. The midfielder enters her senior season after appearing in all 19 games last season. In the spring of her junior year, she was named to the IWLCA honor roll. Saltz was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and was awarded Academic All- Big Ten her sophomore and junior years.  

Dougherty secured two draw controls in her junior season. She received a 4.0 and was named to the IWLCA honor roll in the spring semester of her junior year. She was awarded Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All- Big Ten her sophomore and junior years. Her performance and dedication in the classroom translate to her leadership skills among her teammates, contributing to the team’s cumulative GPA of 3.61.
