No. 25 Women's Lacrosse Begins Road Slate at Drexel

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 25 Penn State women's lacrosse is set to play their first away game of the season at Drexel on Wednesday Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. at Vidas Field.

Nittany Lions vs. Dragons
The Nittany Lions are 9-1 in the all-time series against the Dragons. Penn State won their first meeting in 1994, 14-4. In 2023, Penn State defeated Drexel, 15-6. Kristin O'Neill registered a hat trick, while Kayla Abernathy scored two and Brooke Hoss, Sammy Dupcak, Gretchen Gilmore, Emma Kelly, Cam Evitts, Brooke Barger and Meaghan Murray all scored one goal apiece.
 
Scouting the Dragons
The Dragons are 2-2 on the season. The team opened 2024 with two consecutive wins against Binghamton (14-6) and Wagner (15-3). Corinne Bednarik has scored 10 combined goals between their first two games with 13 other athletes registering at least one goal. 
 
Last Time Out 
Penn State was edged out by Princeton, 18-13 Saturday afternoon at Panzer Stadium. O'Neill led the scoring efforts with four goals, she has scored at least one goal in every game this season. 
 
Preseason Nods
Penn State was ranked No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse preseason poll and No. 18 in the IWLCA preseason poll. In the Big Ten, the Nittany Lions were picked to finish seventh. 
 
Senior captain Kristin O'Neill was named a USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American third team and was an Inside Lacrosse Returning Player to Watch. She was also named a Big Ten Player to Watch along with junior Ellie Hollin and senior Sammy Dupcak
 
Most recently O'Neill was named to the prestigious Tawaaraton Watch List for the third consecutive season.
 
Run it Back
The Nittany Lions' return 29-of-33 players from their 2023 roster, including 12 players who appeared in every game last season. The 39-player roster features nine freshmen, eight sophomores, eight juniors, nine seniors and five graduate students.
