Penn State Football
Illinois Student-Athletes Postgame Press Conference - Illinois – September 28, 2024
Tanner Arkin (Junior)
Q: What did you guys learn about yourselves as a team tonight?
A: We fought. We are going to fight and come back stronger. They are a good team and have got to give credit to where credit is due. They fought harder for longer and at the end of the day we weren't good enough.
Q: Have you ever played in an atmosphere like Beaver Stadium before?
A: Yeah, it was a crazy atmosphere for sure. I think that first kickoff, you can feel it in your chest almost. It was awesome and blessed to have the opportunity to play here, great atmosphere.
Q: What worked so well on your first drive?
A: We came into that drive knowing what plays we are going to run from practice. We come out hot and I think it shows how we are ready to play. We just got to replicate that on our second, third and fourth drive.

Q: How does it feel that Penn State kept getting chunk plays downfield?
A: It's not a good feeling, most third downs were third downs offenses would like. So we need to do better on earlier downs and plays to stop the run. They had more rushing yards than we had total yards, so we need to figure that out on our end.
Q: What is the attitude heading into your bye week?
A: To fix what we need to fix and get better. It starts in our position rooms, and for me it's throughout the defense, but yeah. Attack next week and get better.
Q: What have you learned about your team through the first five games?
A: I think we’ve come together as a team. I think we are able to play a four-quarter game very effectively. I think it didn't transpire tonight, but we are a team that keeps fighting, so really like that about our guys.
