The Centre County community will also be able to take advantage of the facility, which will be open approximately 360 days per year for public use. The rink features eight locker rooms, and hosts local youth hockey, university recreations, and skating programs.
The facility was brought to fruition by an initial $88 million donation - the largest in University history - from Terry and Kim Pegula, who, through their gift, helped Penn State realize its goal of Division I hockey. At the ceremonial groundbreaking on April 20, 2012, the Pegulas added $14 million to the project to lift the total donation to $102 million.
