2010-11: Appeared in the NCAA Championships in four events... Qualified in the NCAA Championships for the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:59.04 and placed 34th in the preliminaries... Swam 1:45.52 and qualified for 26th in the preliminaries of the NCAA Championships for 200 IM... Posted a time of 3:48.27 for the 400 IM in the NCCA Championships that led him to qualify for 23rd in the preliminaries... Helped his 400 freestyle relay team tie for 19th in the preliminaries in the NCAA Championships with a time of 2:57.94... Competed in eight Big Ten Championship events... Posted a personal best time of 1:58.23 in the 200 breaststroke and placed 11th in the Big Ten Championships... Set a school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:44.62 in the Big Ten Championships and placed 4th... Finished 2nd in the 400 IM with a personal best time of 3:46.08 in the Big Ten Championships... 2009-10: Set two new school records during the season, going 1:46.60 in the 200 IM and 3:49.22 in the 400 IM en route to two ninth-place finishes and NCAA B cut times at Big Tens...Broke school record in the 200 IM twice in same day with a 1:46.77 in prelims before the finals...Qualified 18th out of the 200 breaststroke prelims at Big Tens with a season-best time of 2:01.29 before finishing 23rd in the finals...Notched season-best time of 58.44 in the 100 breast vs. Virginia...Won two races in 2009-10, taking first in the 200 IM vs. Buffalo and at Virginia Tech...Posted four second-place individual showings and two more third-place finishes...Occasionally made appearances on relays, with best showing taking place at Ohio State/vs. Michigan and Northwestern in the 200 medley relay (1:33.19) and 400 freestyle relay (3:05.70).
2008-09: Swam second fastest times in PSU history as a freshman in the 200 and 400 IM events, clocking times of 1:47.42 and 3:51.03, respectively at Big Ten Championships finishing both events in 17th place...Put together a time of 2:00.99 in the 200 breast at Big Tens, tied for fifth-best in school history and good for 20th at Big Tens...Had two second-place showings, once in the 200 IM (1:54.42) at Maryland/ Pitt/Villanova and in the 200 breast (2:09.23) at West Virginia...Finished eighth at the OSU Invitational in the 200 breast with a time of 2:04.04...Posted third-place finishes in the 200 IM (at SMU) and 400 IM (at West Virginia)...Swam season-best time of 56.64 in the 100 breast at the OSU Invitational, which earned 17th place...Swam on 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams.
HIGH SCHOOL
Earned four varsity letters at St. Joseph High in Metuchen, N.J. and was a New Jersey First Team All-State selection in 2008...Team won the State Championships in 2006 and currently holds the school record in the 200 IM...Graduated summa cum laude and was the student president in 2007-08...Swam for Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA for head coach Chris Feinthel...Team record holder for the 200 IM, 400 IM and the 200 breaststroke...Holds team records in the 100 and 200 meter freestyle...The 2007 YMCA National Champion in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke, and set the 2008 YMCA national record in the 200 IM...Competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials.
PERSONAL
Scott Marino was born on September 27, 1989...The son of Scott and Mary Marino...Has a younger brother, Matthew, and an older sister, Christine, who swam for The College of New Jersey all four years...Majoring in business administration.
