High School
McGaughey was an All American, USA Junior National Qualifier and AAU National Finalist while attending high school at Langley. He also achieved First Team All District and First Team All Region awards. Langley was able to win a State Championship during McGaughey's four years diving for the team.
Personal
McGaughey mother, Beth McGaughey, attended Seton Hall, and Dave McGaughey is a Penn State alumni. His older sister currently plays field hockey at William and Mary in Williamsburg Va. McGaughey dove for the Dominion Dive Club where he was coached by Stephanie Sutton and Jenni Brown.
