Dorn joined Penn State in August 2016 and currently serves as an assistant director of athletic performance for Olympic sports. In this role, Dorn directly oversees the East Area Weight Room, as well as assisting in the oversight and operation of the athletic performance department for Olympic sports. As an athletic performance coach, he is responsible for the comprehensive training and performance preparation of the men’s lacrosse and women’s volleyball teams. From 2016-22, Dorn served as a performance enhancement coach, working with men's lacrosse and men's & women's swimming & diving.
During his time at Penn State, Dorn helped the men’s lacrosse program reach new heights. In the 2019 season, the team won its first B1G Championship and advanced to the NCAA National Semifinal. While with the swimming & diving programs, several of Dorn’s athletes achieved individual accolades at B1G Championships, with two of them going onto compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Dorn came to Penn State from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where he was the director of strength and conditioning from February 2014-August 2016. In that role he was responsible for the oversight and leadership of the strength and conditioning department as well as coordinating year-round strength and conditioning programs for all 23 varsity teams. Prior to his time at HWS, Dorn served as the interim director of strength and conditioning at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) from August 2013-January 2014 and assistant strength and conditioning Coach from September 2012-August 2013.
Dorn graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor's in clinical exercise science in 2007, followed by a master's in human performance in 2008. He is certified through both the NSCA and USAW.
