Awards: Picked up College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades in the postseason… Garnered Academic All-Big Ten laurels in her first season with the Blue & White… Earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors.
Season: Made an instant impact on the Nittany Lion back line as an everyday starter in her first season in Happy Valley… Shattered career highs in multiple statistics, highlighted by a career-best 25 appearances paired with 25 starts in her inaugural season with the Blue & White… Finished second on the Penn State roster and was one of just three PSU student-athletes to surpass the 2,000-minute threshold, with the redshirt sophomore tallying 2,076 minutes of action on the pitch… Logged one assist and point in the offensive end of the pitch, adding five total shots with three on-target attempts… Helped power the Nittany Lion defense to 11 shutouts in the 2024 season with a 0.88 goals-against average.
Texas Tech (8/15): Made her Penn State debut and saw all 90 minutes of action in Penn State’s season-opening thrashing of the eighth-ranked Red Raiders… West Chester (8/25): Mustered her first shot on goal of the 2024 season against the Golden Rams… at Princeton (9/5): Contributed 90 minutes of effort in Penn State’s shutout road win over the Tigers… Northwestern (9/19): Played the entirety of Penn State’s match against the Wildcats, notching 90 minutes of play against a conference opponent for the first time in her Nittany Lion career… at Nebraska (9/29): Attempted one shot on the offensive end while helping guide the back line to another shutout on the road in Big Ten play with a 90-minute performance… at Minnesota (11/1): Played 90 minutes in a conference postseason match for the first time in her collegiate career, helping guide Penn State’s back line to a true road shutout in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament against the Golden Gophers… vs. TCU (11/22): Tallied 90 minutes of work and helped anchor the back three in a tightly contested 1-0 shutout against the Horned Frogs, powering PSU to the Sweet 16 for the eighth year in a row… at North Carolina (11/29): Returned to her home state and tallied a career-high 97 minutes against her former program, going full-time in PSU’s season finale against the eventual national champions.
BEFORE PENN STATE
A highly impactful player on the back line and one of the most impressive prospects coming out of the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team system in recent years, Herr arrived in University Park after a two-year stint at North Carolina… Herr appeared in 12 matches for the Tar Heels, making eight starts in the process while playing all 90 minutes on four occasions… Sidelined by injury at varying points in both of her collegiate seasons to date, Herr stood out in her limited opportunities… In 2023, she registered her first career goal in ACC competition at NC State and was part of a UNC defense that allowed four goals across her seven appearances, booking three shutouts in that span… During her rookie season in 2022, Herr started and played in all five of UNC’s season-opening fixtures before suffering a season-ending injury against UCLA on Sept. 4 of that year.

Attended Crossroads Flex High School and graduated in fall of 2021… Trained and played with HB Koge Football Club in Denmark during the spring of 2022… Played for the NC Courage ’04 Youth Team for five years (2017-22), serving as team captain each season… Led team to five consecutive playoff appearances… Participated in U.S. Women’s Youth National Team camps (U20, U14-18/19)… U17 ENCL All-America selection… U17 ECNL First Team All-Mid Atlantic Conference performer… U18/19 ENCL National Selection Game participant… Named First Team All-ODP Region III and was selected to the ODP National Team… National Honors Society member… Served as Student Body President.
PERSONAL
Born in the spring of 2004 in Cary, North Carolina, Herr is the only daughter and middle child of Tammy and David Herr… She has three siblings in total, with two older brothers named Mike and Matt in addition to her little brother Joey… Her uncles, Dan and Mike, both played college football, with the former spending two varsity seasons at Chico State University and the latter spending a pair of years on the roster at San Diego State… Herr is currently studying Recreation, Park and Tourism Management in the Penn State College of Health and Human Development, expecting to graduate in December of 2026… She hopes to continue her soccer career at the professional level upon graduation, and ultimately work with animals and habitat prevention when she completes her playing career.
