Dr. Greg Billy is in his third season of serving as the primary care team physician for men’s football and his 15 years as serving as a team physician for Penn State athletics.
Billy, who joined Penn State Orthopaedics in 2005, is a physiatrist, specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation and holds the position of Associate Professor in the Departments of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He practices locally at Penn State Orthopaedics.
Board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Pain Medicine, Dr. Billy also possesses a certificate of additional qualification in Sports Medicine.
In his role as an associate professor, Dr. Billy teaches the Health Policy and Administration course “Consumer Choices in Health Care,” which provides students with an understanding of the patient/consumer role in health care decisions and how to analyze information to achieve and maintain good health and make healthful lifestyle choices. Billy has authored or co- authored several publications in his area of expertise, including, “Long-term Outcomes of Caudal Epidural Steroid Injections in Managing Chronic Low Back Pain and Radiculopathy in Patients with Previous Lumbar Surgery,” in the Journal of Pain Management, and “Changes in Lumbar Disc Morphology Associated with Prolonged Sitting Assessed by Magnetic Resonance Imaging,” in PM&R.
Billy earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Penn State University in 1989. Dr. Billy attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey earning his medical degree in 1993. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Sinai Hospital/Johns Hopkins program in 1997.
Billy lives in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Laura, and their three children, Geoffrey, Grace and Gabriel. He enjoys running marathons and spending time on the farm.
