Pinehurst, N.C.- The Nittany Lions began their spring season today at the Pinehurst Challenge, hosted by the College of Charleston. With a score of 324 for the first round, the team is currently in 13th place out of 21 teams.
Senior Megan Padua led the team with a round score of seven-over 79. Junior Sara Lester and senior Christin Pacacha finished only one stroke behind Padua with scores of eight-over 80. Other participants for the Nittany Lions include sophomore Katherine Murphy and freshman Brianna Malcolmson.
East Tennessee State leads the competition going into the second round with a score of 307. Individually, Charleston's Steffi Kirtchmayr and Chattanooga's Christine Wolf lead with scores of one-over 73.
The Pinehurst Challenge will continue through Tuesday, with round two beginning Monday morning.
